Title: Spreader boot
Post by: Brad Young on August 15, 2010, 11:21:22 AM
At west marine now. Does anyone know what size spreader boot a 1988 c34 need?
Spreader tips 2-1/4" x 11/16" or
3-1/4" x 1"

Brad : I believe the "Large spreader boots" as the outer (upper) stay is 5/16".

To be more precise they're 'shrouds'....

Ted : You maybe correct and I should not have used the normal slang.

I should have said - "The part of the standing rigging wire that goes to the (near) top of the mast that has a diameter of 5/16 inch and passes thru the outside of the  spreader arms" .      :clap

My question is where do you buy these spreader boots. The ones I see seem built for rounder spreaders

John : You can get the boots at WM or Defender or other mail order chandeliers.  You might want to get the fabric ones from Parameter!
A thought

Replaced mine with the "Large" size from West Marine just 2 weeks ago. I've had KS for 7 years. We'll see how long the new ones last.
I was hauled up the mast on a 3:1 halyard by a buddy. He was glad he only had to haul 50 pounds...or was it 60????  :?
