Title: Cushion Cleaning
Post by: mregan on October 26, 2012, 04:57:41 AM
Checked the search but didn't find the answer I was looking for.

Just bought an '86.  Cushions are in good shape but I want to get them cleaned.  If I can get the foam out of them, has anyone had just the covers dry cleaned?  Or could I throw them in the washing machine on a "gentle" cycle?

I have used a Rug Doctor with good results.  Use the upholstry tool.  Whe we bought our boat the cushions were pretty dirty.  Cleaned up very well in 2 or 3 passes.  Now we do in annually.

I put mine in the washing machine and hang to dry.  When I put them back together I put some fabric softner sheets inside.  They smell great all year.  Close the zippers when you wash them.  They can be a pain to get back together, takes the two of us one bottle of wine.

Hi,

Did the same as Dave this spring.
Tried to get some cover off the foam, but was not easy with removing all the little buttons on the cushions.

A lot easier this way. 8)  And left them under a sunny day outside
