Guys : It doesn't take a Mechanical Engineer to have a travel lift operator set the boat down and improperly set the hull so you have a "Catalina Smile" in a second!! All he has to do is set the keel on the ground and let the hull rock back!!    :cry4`

Guys : My 1988 boat the aft water tank is NOT setting in a pan!! The simplest thing to go is fill the "scag dimple" like some have done, and say THWI!!

Antoni : If Mexico is anything like the Bahamas - good RO water was 3/4 times the price of diesel!!

Guys : The only cap that needs to be "winch handle tight" is the fuel cap !! I just tighten the water and waste caps finger tight!!  I replaced the fuel with a SS cap & fitting!!

Jim : We're off the topic, but I've tried to find the source of that water in the "Scag Dimple" for 30 years??  Being fresh water I'm convinced that it's from the aft water tank, but I'm NOT going thru all of the work to pull that aft tank just to find out.

Pete : You can replace that sheave, but it isn't going anywhere. I believe that I replaced the out haul line with new 5/16" Dacron.

Bernd : Should be no problem, Zn spray will nicely stick to bronze. I've used it many times on the prop.

Guys : Our hand signals (doing for over 30+ years) do NOT include any tapping or banging of the head!!

Guys : My front window can be zipped out, but found it too time consuming to reinstall in a rainstorm. I can roll it up, but found it much better to leave it zipped in and pull it back UNDER the dodger!!

Bernd: I've never "primed" with epoxy???  I believe that the Zn coating will do the best.  I use ablative paint on the hull!!  Just don't know of any "magic stuff/coating" to keep the nasties from growing on the running gear!??!

Mark : Here is what I do before the spring splash. Late in the day I have the yard lift Apache up so I can examine and bottom paint the underside of the wing.  Then the boat hangs in the slings there overnight and lets the paint dry. I'm the first splash the next AM.  Works well.

Pete : Where you are using the shackle I go with the cheapest one because there isn't a high load requiring MAX strength!!  The price difference however, is almost 5:1 so if it wears just get another one!!

Guys : I've used the vinyl and keep the "front window" unzipped so I can pull it UNDER the dodger and secure it with short bungy cords on the aft dodger hand rail. Under the dodger keeps it from getting scratched and in position to be quickly zipped back down because of a rainstorm or sea spray !!   :thumb:
