Hi,
Does a purchase length of 10 ft seem about right for a 89 C34?
What's the length of 1.5" dia waste hose needed to replace the three lengths of waste hose: toilet to tank, seacock to macerator and tank to macerator?  Does 10 ft seem about right? I'm unexpectedly going by Defender in CT and would like to pick up some Raritan hose that's on sale.

Has anyone had good resultsperformance using Raritan Sani / Flex Sanitation Hose ?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris,  10' of 1 1/2" waste hose will be more than plenty for head to tank and tank to macerator, but maserator to seacock uses 1" hose w/ vented loop.

Thanks, jeff.
On my boat there's no loop from macerator to seacock. I need to add the vented loop.

Why?  With the thru hull to the macerator closed, what will the vented loop do?  I don't have my copy of Peggie Hall's book handy right now.  I'll check some toilet manufacturers' literature.  But my boat doesn't have one and has been working just fine for 30 years.  I keep my macerator thru hull closed unless it's pumping out.

Stu,

my boat, #219,  had a vented loop installed from mascerator to seacock. When I replaced all the hoses, I kept it in position.  I never questioned the loop, just kept it the way it was set up

Chris, maybe you don't need a vented loop, my boat had one in line, so when I replaced all hoses, I kept it in place. I too keep the thru hull closed except when to use.

Jeff and Stu,
Thanks for your help. I agree no loop needed as long as I'm careful to keep the seacock closed when the mascerator is not running.
I've observed that if the mascerator is off, my tank fills with seawater.

Hi,
If tank fill with water with seacock closed on macerator.  Then it must be from the toilet flush vavle not operating properly.

Patrice,

I was at boat yesterday and confirmed a vented loop on macerator to seacock.  The po must have installed it so that the seacock could be left open all the time, thus preventing water from coming back into the boat, that's the only reason I think it was installed. I keep the seacock closed all the time except when pumping.  It was there so I kept it that way when I replaced the entire sanitation system years ago. For what it's worth.
