static on am fm radio

Installed am fm radio and I have static. Antenna is  six feet away from radio. Power wire connected to battery.Ground to panel ground bus.Battery charger is one foot from radio,when charger is turned off stactic goes away.Is charger to close to radio?What can be done other than move charger?

Charger is a CHARGE PRO GUEST model #2610.Never heard of faraday bag,but will look into it. Thanks for info.

Unfortunately, that Guest charger is totally mismatched to a cruising sailboat. 
Those waterproof sealed chargers like a Guest ChargePro and ProMariner ProSport are meant for fishing boats.

Most probably, what you have is radiated interference, not 12v line interference.  So without shielding the source (the charger) then the next way is to move the receiver/antenna as far from the charger as possible.  Make sure the charger is properly grounded.  Last resort get rid of the cheap ass Guest charger that radiates too much interference!  see here....

I helped a friend recently that had the same problem, radiated interference.  We moved the antenna which helped but bottom line is space (separating the antenna from the source) is the only thing you can do other that trying to shield mthe interference from radiating out of the box.  This is problematic because building a shield around the charger will also reduce airflow, that may cause an overheating issue.  My suggestion would be can the charger.

Be advised some LED lights can also radiate and cause a similar issue with a radio, I solved that by simply moving the antenna.

Talked to tech center at guest and they recommend to move charger at least five feet from radio.NO DIFFERENCE.

Temporarily cover the charger with aluminium foil that is grounded. That should indicate if it's the charger.

Also - is the interference present all of the time ie. between stations? and how high is the volume.

Reason: if between stations and high volume then might suspect quality of the antenna line. So check the connections.
