While measuring for sound insulation, I noticed cracks in the fiberglass near where the motor mount hole are. The mounts are intact, secure and have no noticeable damage.
Any thoughts or suggestions? We puchased this 1998 mkii last November.

It's probably just cracks in the gelcoat and only cosmetic.  If you had a survey done it should have been noted on the survey.  I would just tap with a hard plastic hammer and see if it sounds solid.  Then with a marker mark the end of the crack and see if it is growing.  If you can, take pictures and post them here.

Thanks for the advice. I will mark it tomorrow.  The surveyor didn't find any Faults there, so hopefully it is just cosmetic.  :-))

Ed just had this discussion about his motor mounts.

You should also do a search on "toothpicks" which has been my "go to" solution.

Good luck.
