Anchorman Power 700 anchor winch disassembly

My 1989 C34, Galiander, Hull #1001, had an Anchorman Power 700 winch installed in the forward locker. The unit needs servicing. The motor works fine but the clutch/braking mechanism does not. The maintenance manual says the external parts should be disassembled once a year, cleaned, etc. I am unable to determine how to disassemble the unit - the manual is not clear on the correct procedure.

I decided to see if I could disconnect the unit entirely but access from the forward berth is not straight forward and I find it hard to believe the manufacturer expects it to be unmounted in order to do the yearly maintenance.

Has someone had some experience here who could give me the correct steps. I am hesitant to simply "use a bigger hammer" so to speak and don't want to go to the work of unmounting it if it is not necessary.
