i read http://c34.org/bbs/index.php/topic,7280.0.html and the faq and I have rebed all my beckson ports but as everyone here knows, even if they don't leak (and mine don't now), because of the angle they are installed in, when you open the ports, water comes in.  Has anyone seen covers for these, that would snap on from the outside?  Beckson does not sell anything like that.

thanks in advance

Which Beckson ports are you referring to? My 1990 has only two Beckson opening windows/ports and those are in the aft cabin. The rest of my opening windows/ports are Lewmar "Old Standards".

becki : You might try taking a Dermal Tool and make the 2 drains a bit steeper.

A thought

becki : There are two drains (one on either side) of the bottom Beckson frame.  These drains are angled down, so that if the Beckson port were mounted in the vertical position the water would drain out.

I'm assuming that your problem is on the 3 Beckson ports (salon) that are mounted in the inward top sloping deck side.
So take the dermal tool and lightly cut into those drains and make the drain steeper.

Clear as mud?

Becki,

http://www.go2marine.com/product/160669F/beckson-rain-shield-for-8-x-18-portlight-rs-18.html

Your ports are 5 x 12, don't know if Beckson makes that size, check their website.

They seem to:  http://shop.catalinaowners.com/prod.php?17422

There's another company that makes clear ones, Google "rain shields" and other appropriate terms, good luck.
