Can someone identify these?

Poking around I came across these things under the forward section of the starboard settee. Both say "Hand tight" .

They are your transducers for your depthsounder and knot meter.

One is probably the depth gauge transducer , other may be the knot meter transducer but usually it's in the v-berth.

Hopefully you also have a dummy plug. It would be of the same style and shape allowing for removal
of your existing depth or speed for maintenance or cleaning while in the water.

Steve : The top one in the picture is your knot log transducer and the bottom one is the depth transducer.

From the looks of them I'd say you have Data Marine instruments. You definitely need to find that dummy plug!!

If I rember right, if that pin comes out, the speed log transducer will come out. Good to put a safety wire on. Had a friends boat sink (at the dock) when that happened. He hasn't found the pin yet.

Steve : I believe that the pin on my Data Marine knot log is such that I don't need a safety on it.
Haven't had a problem in 26 years.

Thanks Ron. When I get up to the boat this weekend I'll take a closer look. And hopefully I'll find the plug somewhere.

Steve : Forgot to mention that the Knot log pin has a hole in one end.
If you look at your picture you can see the 1" ring clip that is thru that hole to keep it from coming out (until you remove that pin!).

Just a heads up in case you do pull the speed transducer for cleaning

It can go back in to ways, one of those 180' deg wrong. It is not marked clearly, so do pay attention to which way the paddle wheel is oriented.

I noticed that. I assume that is what Jim was referring to when he suggested attaching a safety wire?
