Cruising Design Reefer furler

Does anyone have a Reefer 1 or 2 furler.  If so would you have a manual.  I can't figure out when I pull the wire internal halyard down to raise the jib, where do you attach it once the jib is all the way up?  Mine has a shackle on the end of the wire halyard but I can't figure out when it goes.
Also, do you use a shackle to attach the top of the jib to the small sail slide that rides in the furler sail track?  I think the PO used rope which I didn't think looked like a good idea.
