Water heater connections

I disconnected the water heater connections last week and didn't make note of which ones were connected (I know, rookie mistake). There are 4 hose barbs all the same size - one way high and one way low and two in between. I am thinking it was the two in between that were connected? I took a picture of how I connected but I can't figure out how to post picture.

Set2 : If all of your connections are on the same side, you'll need to go to your water heater manual.  Usually the engine coolant lines are on the opposite side of the water line connections. 

Look on line at Seaward or Whale if you can't find your manual.
