Catalina 34 Trim Plate

Hi Forum Members,

Well my obsessive compulsive tendencies have kicked in again.  While in the middle of making "pretty" aboard Esprit du Vent, I tried to "spruce up" the trim plates on the combing.  First I tried hobby-shop black enamel and a fine brush.  The trim plate is so pitted that the paint ran down the sides of the letter top into the "valley" below.  Cleaned that up.  Now I am thinking about press-on black vinyl cut out with an X-Acto knife.  That will be hard for me to do, so I am looking for suggestions.  I would love to buy a replacement, but I could not find a source and I doubt there is one.

If I have to go the X-Acto route, I can correct the photo such that I can get the letters the right shape.  The angle the photo was take from has led to a prospective distortion, but I can fix that.

Any ideas?

I use a black paint pen from an industrial supply store.  Works well.  Grainger or Fastenall.

I did not find it on their web site.  I called them directly and ordered it over the phone.  I looked for the invoice but can't seem to find it.  I think they cost me around  $38.

Bob : For a few $$ more you can purchase the "Catalina 34" plates for the MKII.  They are metal and won't deteriorate like the plastic!!

Would you post me the 34 after removing it if you fit a new one? Ours is missing the 4 on the port side.

Tony, you are welcomed to my old Trim Plates.  Have not removed them yet due to the very cold weather here in West Michigan.  Just a note that Catalina produced these in 3 different types of fonts.

When I read the link that Dave put up, CD say they only have one font for the C34. I only need the 34, actually the 4, as it is missing from our port side.
I will happily take you old ones off your hands and reimburse you any costs. PayPal would be easiest.

A HUGE thanx Paul.
I received your old trim plates in the mail yesterday after getting back from Moonshadow and replacing the macerator.
The 34 is in great condition and will make the old trim plate complete.

I use black spray paint.  Just before it fully dries, wipe the areas that are silver with a rag dipped in paint thinner.
