Main Sail cover

It's time to replace the cover and I was wondering if there were any places that anyone could recommend. I plan on trying to get hold of the factory for one that has an insigna, but should that fail I need a backup. Second Wind is an 86 so I may not be able to get one from Catalina.

I think that I prefer one that uses a zipper and most of the discounters don't use one.

Mike,

Any sailmaker or canvas company can do it for you.  Just give them the old one for a pattern and tell them what you want in terms of snaps zippers velcro etc.  I had the zipper replaced on mine by the canvas guy at the local yard.  He was a bit pricey but it was same day service.  Another option is to check the mail order catalogs (West Marine, BoatUS, etc)  They have a collection of standard sizes.  The sailmaker should be able to put a Catalina 34 logo on for you.  With the other options you may have to order a logo from Catalina and have a local canvas guy sew it on.

I have a C34, 1987.  This year I got a new cover from Sailnet.com.  I went for there E-Z-Dose system that stayes up all the time.  I was easy to set up and my wife loves it because it is less work for her.  It cost about $475 with all the hardware.

I had my local sailmaker make me one for my '86 last year.  I would be happy to give it to him to duplicate for you.  If you want to check him out it is somersetsails.com. I think size can depend on your mainsail material. He could tell you.  He ships all over the country.  I think you will find his prices are very good.

Just over a year ago I had all new canvas put on my boat. I called Catalina parts to get a new insignia for my main sail cover and they refused to sell me one. They stated they would only sell them to a sail maker.
