Rigid boom vang

Hi this fall when i installed my boom vang the boomis gone up between 35 and 45 degres and it is very hard to pull down. Is it normal and is there an ajustment on the spring inside. Thank you.

Is this with your mainsail attached?  Once the sail is on the boom, that does make it easier, but I do agree, it is rather difficult.  What I did was buy new blocks (3 pulleys on each block, instead of the original 2) which increased the mechanical advantage.  Doing this has made a big difference.  I bought them from Garhauer.

check how you mounted it. my boom did not go up like that but you need to make a template and install if carefully with the boom neutral at installation like Guido at Garhauer advises. I had him on the phone while I was working on it!!

You can just crank on the main sheet to lower the boom height, then take up the slack on the rigid vang line.
