Racing a C34 (feedback from other recreational racers?)

...our reverse start 10 mile race...thereby eliminating the terror of a crowded start line.  The breaks are at1 minute intervals so except for the one design fleets there are only a few starters on the line at a time.  Also you always know where you are in the race compared to others.  

...so there are many winners in the race.

That's a nice way to do it.  Since we have so many C34s racing here, we get our own one design starts at races that are sponsored by other groups, like the midwinters and the summer series.

Sometimes it's fun to have the reverse handicap races, so you do see what's happening, but that simply replaces the terror of the start line with the mayhem of the finish line!

But also I think learning how to start in a race is a lot of the fun, this coming from a guy who wrote an article about the 1999 C34 Nationals entitled: "What It's Like From the Back of the Pack!"
