The 3/4" plywood front panel for the engine compartment on my 1997 MkII needs to be replaced. It has delaminated and cracked at the bottom with pieces missing, and is generally beaten up. I have pulled it, removed the door, which is in fine shape, but want to fabricate a new plywood frame. My question is what is the best combination of of plywood finish and wood stain to match the standard Catalina interior teak finish in this vintage. I've read that Minwax Olde Maple is close, but on what wood finish, oak? Thanks for any advice.
