damaged bolt while removing chain plate

I'm trying to find a replacement bolt (machine screw) that I managed to damage while removing chain plates.

What it the proper description for this bolt or machine screw?

Slotted round head (seems bigger then normal round head)? 3/8 x 1-3/4" ? Bolt or Machine screw?

Any good sources for a replacement?

Hi Pierre
Make life easy and replace it with a regular stainless bolt.  It is much easier to hold a regular bolt from turning when you tighten the nut from the inside.  You can reach through the port and hold a wrench instead of a screwdriver.  I changed mine last year when I resealed my chain plates.

I forgot to mention, that I went around the know places to find a replacement with out any luck and wanted to make I was ordering the right thing if ordered online.

I think I finally found a source. To get a match to the slotted round head I will have to get it ordered in. They do have a hex head bolt in stock.

Hex head or slotted round head any opinions? What about 18/8 versus 316 stainless. The source I had only has 18/8 available.

Go for the hex head as Cory suggested.  Much easier to work with.  Use a larger washer on top to spread the load better.
