Changed my profile from my boat name to my name. DarBay to Brad Young
Dar Bay (C34) Hull 84 (1986)
Was on DarBay this weekend and came back with more question.
1)
I have a vented loop in the saltwater intake. It's location is under the head sink. We went motoring for about 6 hrs and I notice a leak coming from this vent. About a large drop per second. Is this normal? If not what can  I do to fix it. Replace the vent??

2) Dock gossip: A guy on the dock said he owned an early C34' that had a foam core hull. I thought all C34's where solid. Is there a way I can check this. (My surveyor said it was solid)
.
3)I am going to order bug busters screen, but I left my hatch measurements on the boat. Does anyone have those numbers on hand?

4)I was cleaning the Rancor filter and one of the fuel clamps broke off. There is a bag of clamps on board, they looked brand new, however when I went to replace the old one, two of the news ones broke off also. ( I know what you are thinking, but I am not that strong.)
So all my clamps and all my spare clamps are suspects. I would like to get a spare hardware shop on boat. Did I metion DarBay is 6 hours away (in Mexico). Any thoughts on what size clamps, bolts, nuts etc....

Thanks
brad

Brad,

1.  That vented loop is on the outlet of the HX TO the exhaust gas riser to the muffler, if it's related to the engine.  There should not be a vented loop "in the saltwater intake" even if it's for the head.  Please confirm its location.  If it's dripping then take the cap off, clean up the nipple and replace it, or buy another nipple from WM before you return.  They're a Forespar vented loop, I think I linked it on a recent post about heads.

2.  Bullsh*t - he's wrong.

3.  5 x 12  The age of your boat, they're all Becksons.

4.  The fuel hose is 3/8.  Given your situation, buy a very good and large assortment.  You will and should become your very best and favorite own hardware store.

Brad : The vented loop under the head sink should be for the raw water (anti syphon) coming out of the Heat Exchange and mixing into the exhaust gasses in the riser.  It should not be leaking.  If that loop is leaking it could be the loop valve (under the screw in top cap), or a crack in the plastic body of the loop or a loose hose - you didn't specify.

The dock gossip is WRONG the hull of all C34s do not have a core - they are solid

Not too sure what your problem is with the hose clamps - could be bargen clamps??

Can't help you with the screen size for a 1986 C34.

Welcome to being a C34 owner and to this message board.   :clap

Thanks for the info.
1) The leak look like it was coming out of the top vent. I did not see any cracks in the solid loop part. I think I will buy a couple of spares.
2) I was looking for sizes of the V-Berth hatch and the hatch in the salon.
3)I am VERY VERY glad to know I have a solid core.
