The power down function of my anchor windlass quit.  I tracked it down to the solenoid in my Maxwell P19045 control.  Has anyone replaced just the solenoid?  Where can I buy one?

Jim - If you Google "Maxwell P19045" you'll get a lot of hits. It looks like www.Defender.com has it for $149

I wasn't able to find a matching solenoid from an industrial supply house, its metric threaded.  So I called Maxwell, they had them in stock, but they don't sell direct.  They recommended going to Defender, I did.  Part # SP1393 (Maxwell) cost $44.99.  It was a simple replacement just had to solder 2 wires and bolt it in.
It's sort of a personality defect of mine that I would rather repair than replace and discard the old.  And I saved $100.

Jim : Just out of curiosity, why would a metric thread on a solenoid make any difference??
Just get a metric nut?!?

Ron,

The studs on the solenoid are screwed into a spacer/extender that the wires are then connected to.  Also there was a problem with the fit into the box.
