Engle auxilary refrigeration

I have been looking at the Engle MT-35/43 Mid-size 34 or 43 Qt. Commercial Refrigerator/Freezer as an auxiliary to the Adler Barbour I have now (At least when I get it working.) Has anyone ever, or known anyone who has used, this system? I looked at it and the many options it offers at the Miami Boat Show. It will fit under the Nav Station quite easily and DOES switch automatically between 12v DC and 110v AC.

Kitty and I will be moving aboard in April for the duration of the warm season in Georgia and would like MORE cold food & beverage storage. Please advise y'all.

It may not be the model you mention, but something similar.  If it fits and the concept works for you, go for it.

I know you're new to your boat and have all these exciting things to do, and you'd rather be workin' on the boat than sitting in front of your computer, but consider this:  When it gets too dark to work on the boat, wander around this website, particularly the NEW wiki section, and start reading about the things that have already been done in the categories up your alley, not all of which are exactly what you have in mind, but give you many good ideas to build from.

Why do you think I have so many questions? I've wandered around this MB AND Wiki AND the projects page. All great resources. I have nearly all the upgrades I want to do pretty much either done or close to being done. I just hadn't seen anything about the Engle system and came to those that are in "the know!"

That's great, Lance, and I simply didn't know that, perhaps linked to the 6V battery discussions.  Good for you and bad on me.  With nothing on Engle on this entire website, it's a great question.  Where'd you find it, do you have a link to it so we may comment on its applicability in more detail?

One thing I did need to mention was that they did earn the Practical Sailor Editors Choice Award for this. As I work at Gill (Foul Weather Clothing), I know how tough PS is on gear they test. They test nearly to destruction on the clothing at times. Good practical testing...

Also, Catalina has some excess compressors for my AB system. Is $350 a good deal on that? If not, what is a good price?
