My shift cable sheared off right below the fitting that attaches to the shift lever.  The cable then disappeared down into the steering mechanism.  Luckily it happened just as I had shifted out of reverse into the slip.  Any suggesions???

Did the search on this sight and got the post from Mke and Theresa Vaccaro from 2004, plus the Edson suggestions.  Mike's directions were perfect and he was right on with the shorter cable (11'), Catalina still recommended 15'.  Freash water boat so no corrosion, all went well, took my guy about 51/2 hours from start to finish.  Thanks all.
