The threaded portion of this unit on which the wire is secured is spinning within the complete unit. Discovered this when I went to tighten it. Engine temp readings have been fine.
Is this normal or should the complete unit be replaced?

Jon Schneider

That's the way mine is, and I just bought it.

Can : I don't believe that that is normal.  I'd recommend contacting your local Kubota dealer and get a standby.

Joe Joyce at Universal advised me that the rotating is not normal. Replace the sender..$37!

Canuck, I'm sorry to have misled you.  I thought you were talking about the high-water sensor, which does have a "spinning," but unthreaded stem.  Now, I see that you were talking about the threaded stem, which must mean it's the temp sender.  Sorry for the wild goose chase.
