After installation of a new strut bearing on a 34, what should I lubricate the drive shaft with to ease installation (rudder in place) ?

I believe the strut bearing should have been installed with the shaft in place.  With it in place, I don't know if you will be able to install the shaft past the rudder.  Passing the shaft in or out, with the rudder in place is possible when the cutless bearing is removed.

I agree with Roc, but if your bearing is already in place, try some soapy water.  I used that to lube the shaft when I was removing it (with bearing and rudder in place).

prh : I don't think that it can be done !!
The only reason that the shaft could be removed is because the cutless bearing was worn.  A new cutless bearing will probably NOT let the shaft thru!!    :cry4`
