Planning on a stay over in Baltimore.  Any suggestions for a nice Marina, good facilities, convenient to Inner Harbor and Falls Point, good security.  Any ideas would be much appreciated.  Also, any ideas for a nice place to overnite on the hook somewhere near Baltimore for the next night.

Barry, Try a search on "Baltimore" - there are a few with marina suggestions and references to Fleet 12 resources.

Barry,

We were just up there Memorial Day.  Here is THE place to stay.

$3 per foot per night + $17 for electric.

The fee gives you access to the pool and spa at the Inner Continental Hotel - also right in the inner harbor.

You can walk to EVERYTHING in the inner harbor and the stadium - should you want to catch the O's.

Good security too. Brand new (renovated) facility.  This place is C L E A N !!!!

Barry,

That sure is a nice location, and you'll have a great view of the harbor. If memory serves it used to be really tough to get in most weekend (always pretty full). Piece of advice: The past couple of times I went to the Rusty Scupper restaurant (right near the marine center) it was very good to disappointing in both service and food quality for the cost. Plus it's usually very busy on Friday & the weekend. Better to go a bit early to avoid the mob, and definitely have a reservation if possible.

Another location I've found that was pretty nice is Inner Harbor East (north shore of the inner harbor and a bit further downstream). Floating docks, nice showers, walking distance to Little Italy. Water taxi stop there as well. Very Secure. HOWEVER: I just called them (410-625-1700) and the ladies bathroom facilities are under renovation right now. There is also on-going major upgrade/expansion so best to call ahead well in advance for updates.

Slips: $2.35/night for the first 2 nights, $1.75/night after that. There are good discounts to entice boaters during the construction.

If you belong to USPS there is a discount that will pay for your electric. ($5/night)

Unfortunately their website is screwed up right now and only points to a bunch of links.  :cry4`

Good luck!

Jeff,

I agree completely with the review of the Scupper.  there used to be one near Tyson's Corner, and it was fantastic.  Based upon that, I went to the one in the harbor our first night there - ho hum.

There are SO MANY good eats around the harbor though, you'll find good chow for sure.

The "Hawaiian/Mexican" place is fantastic.  Also ESPN Zone and Hard Rock for casual eats.  Philips, Hooters (I just like the wings  :liar ), and the food court has a large selection to go along with blowing dough in the mall.

You DO have to reserve ahead for the marina.  Mem Day was the first weekend that they had reopened, so it was easy to get in, not so now.

Marina help was FANtastic there.  Helpful friendly folks.
