Can someone who has disassembled the latch assembly on the opening portlights, port and starboard offer some insights. Is there a trick to removing the disc that covers the screw which secures the latch assembly without marring it?

Is there other advice for a painless change out of the lens in each port?

  Thank You

I just used sharp, stiff knife blade under the edge; worked around the edge.  No damage, popped right out.  Easy to replace.

I left uncovered for several weeks since I replaced the o-rings in the latch as they needed periodic adjustment while the new rings got seated.  The covers popped right back in when I was done.

Randy : I've never had to do that job, but if I had to I'd get some advice (second opinion) from Lewmar.  Call them at (203)458-6200.  There might be an easier way to get that plug out.

Actually I happen to be on the boat, so I just took my small Swiss Army knife blade and slowly pry-ed out one as a test.  Be careful that you pry a little at a time or you could break the knife tip.

Randers, Did mine by taking a sharp pointed knife blade and prying them out. Worked great. Just be careful that you keep an eye on where they go when it comes out. Behinde it is a phillips screw that you can adjust the working tension of the latch. A little goes a long way on the adjustment.
I'll be down this weekend if you need me.
