Hi Guys,

We've been developing a new type of LED cabin light that we hope will address the shortcomings of the current crop of LED cabin light replacements.

Hopefully, we'll be ready with production inventory in time for the Miami boat show in Feb.
These new lights are broad focus and brighter than a 10 Watt halogen.  We eliminated the harshness typical of LED lights and will be offering them in soft white and red.  They are designed to be a direct replacement for the G-4, 2 pin but we have an adaptor for the older type bayonette mounts that Catalina 34 fixtures typically use.  These plug and play units also have an optional dimmer which is designed to replace the toggle switch on a dome light or reading light.

So far so good with the prototypes operating over the course of the summer.  Currently we sell a "Super Bright" type on our website with 19 LED's.  This is only a stop gap measure.

I'll try to keep you folks posted as we progress towards product release. We feel this unit will be a significant advancement in cabin lighting.

Nick : That sounds like great news.  When you give us the status of production, how about another request.  Let us know the base of the bulbs available not only by #, but also by function - ie. /bayonet with a double or single contact/halogen with 2 prongs/ etc.  I'm sure you'll specify narrow or wide beam.  :clap
Surly hope that your prices are reasonable like "superbriteleds" rather than like "Davis" LEDs that are quite pricey!!   :cry4`

Ron,

You're right, the big challenge with this design is the mounting.  We are using push pins that fit into the g 4 lights.  We have also found a good source for a G 4 to bayonet adaptors, one and two pin.  This will allow us to fit most of the popular designs.
There's really no contest with the amount of light that comes out of these units when compared to the suberbright technologies.  We're starting off with 120 deg. broad focus and will offer a 70 deg. also a little later on.  I'm using the 120 deg. focus unit now in a reading light fixture and it's fine since it has such a high output.

Our pricing is projected to be somewhere > superbright < Davis but will be "dim-able" .  Our initial promotion will have a Cal 34 discount to help get the ball rolling.

Nick : Sounds great so far.  I just hope that you meant Catalina 34 not Cal 34 !!   Ron
