I'm getting ready to install a 1500 watt inverter.  I've seen some people use a 20 amp double pole double throw switch and other advise the Blue Seas (model 8132 ) transfer switch.  The DPDT switch is $11 and the Blue Seas is $109.  It seems that at least in theory they both accomplish the same thing.
Is there a good reason to go with the more expensive switch?

It seems to me that FUNCTION is the most important issue here, followed closely by ability to resist marine environment.  Whith those two criteria, if it works, why not?  If you choose to do so, remember to turn your charger off at the panel (if you have a separate charger breaker) as I mentioned in my earlier discussion about Jon Arck's installation.  Then please post the model of the switch you used.

Being in freshwater I think you can go with the cheap one and it'll work just fine.   8)
