I was planning on buying a "few" filters to keep in reserve. I believe the filters sell for approx. 25.00 at West Marine. For curiosity I googled the item as "Racor r24s filter replacements" and received maybe a half dozen interesting returns where I could either by them on line at a reduced price or follow a link to ebay which I did. I stumbled upon an auction for a dozen filters being auctioned with 5 hours left to go. I put in a max  bid for 120.00 (beating the existing bid of 100.00). When I checked the site a few hours later my bid had been beat so I rebid and "won" 12 filters for $137.50. Certainly a significant per filter saving even when considering the 14.00 shipping cost.I hope they have a long shelf life and in fact are not defective. The seller has good marks and feedback commentary on ebay.---------just another idea for saving a buck.

Ken : When you get the filters in your hand, how about reporting back to us.
Sounds as thought you got a good deal.    :?:

The filters arrived as promised---neatly packed and dent free. Based on this experience, I think EBay is worth a check for certain marine purchases. (It was also mildly entertaining being involved in an on-line auction).

EBay is the way to go.  I have never been disappointed with anything I've bought.  How about $267 for a new in-box Raytheon ST60 knotmeter?  You just type in the things you are interseted in and let them do the searches daily.  Wish I'd thought of it first!
