I used a piece of 1/8 inch birch plywood, just because it didn't have any knots in it. The side rails are leftover mahogany from the cockpit floor project.  At first, Arthur T. Dog was reluctant to use it, because it was new and different. But after a few times up and down the ramp, he quickly learned that going down the ramp meant going to shore for a walk. Then it was a race to see who could get into the dinghy first!
