halyard uses

My '86 34 has three jib halyards. 1 is thinner than the other two and leads to the highest point on the mast. Is this one for the roller furling? The other two fatter ones enter the mast on parallel sheaves about six inches from the top. I put my roller jib up yesterday and it seems the thinner halyard with it's higher attachment is more suited to free movement of the roller furling. The way I see it, the lower two would be for the asym. spin. and a pole lift or for misc. uses. I havent sailed yet this year and don't remember which halyard the roller sail was attached to last year which was the first with this boat. thanks, BD :)

If the "thinner" halyard leads to a block on a crane at the top of the mast (a loop of metal projecting forward from the highest part of the mast), then that would be a spinnaker halyard.  Either of the other two halyards can be used for the jib or roller furling, but only the spinnaker halyard should be used for a spinnaker or drifter.
