Does anyone know what type/size of screw the white plastic swim ladder steps are attached with? One of mine is loose and I tried every screwdriver attachment in my toolbox with no luck. This is a 1997 MKII open transom

I think mine are riveted but I might be mistaken.  I've never had them come loose so I haven't had reason to look too closely.

I think it's a torex t-25.  On Shamrock they were filled with something white so I wasn't able to verify.  You may need to dig that out to get a good fit.
Hope that helps

Many moons ago I bought those steps from Catalina Direct and installed them myself. They came with stainless rivets, which were pretty heavy duty and took some oooomph to get them to pop. One of mine was a bit loose and with allot left to do with my refit I left it....and never got back to it. I owned that boat for 10 years and the fact that it was slightly loose never made a difference with it's performance. The step worked just fine.

Moose,

You can see from your picture the step is pop riveted on. The early boats (like mine) didn't come with these steps on the swim ladder. Typical of Catalina they were constantly upgrading and improving their boats and they offered a step kit consisting of the steps and pop rivets. My former partner who lived in the Valley just went to the Woodland Hills factory and bought one and I installed it. Like Eric many moons ago.

If the looseness bothers you simply drill out the old rivet and install a new one, stainless steel of course.

Thanks everybody, yes I do believe it's a rivet. I was hoping it was a screw of sorts, but it's not a big problem and I'll live with it unless it comes all the way off.
