My 2005 C34 which I purchased new, developed extensive crazing on the brightwork areas of the deck several years ago. The non-skid is in like new condition. I have contacted my dealer on several occasions and have received no advice.

I got a quote from a gelcoat restoration co.to refinish the area and the quote was almost half the value of the boat. It did not seem out of line for the amount of work involved.
I would like some advice from other members that have had this issue.

I keep the gelcoat waxed and the boat has been covered every winter since new.I am not sure if this is a problem that can be ignored or if damage that I cannot see is occurring.

Thanks!

Bob, in your case I think a few pictures would be very helpful for those of us who want to help you.

Gelcoat seems to be as arcane to some folks as electricity!  :cry4`  I used to think so, too, until I learned it is simply like two-step painting or mixing two part epoxy.  Les Troyer, C36 Commodore showed me how.  He had the right tools, i.e., liquids.  It's been over 5 years, so forgive me for forgetting.  But a little research will unearth what you need.  Most folks obsess over colour matching.  Unless you have a blue hull, it is not that difficult, because white is white and after a few months in the sun it'd be hard to see the difference [except for perfectionists].  Good luck.
