Main boom machining for internal shives

I have a boom without the internal shives.  I am considering adding them to allow for a single line reefing system (I know the pitfalls... no need to elaborate).  Has anyone added these?  I see the shive boxes are sold on Catalina direct.  The main question is properly locating the machined exits on my boom.
