On my boat my front hatch is solid (no window) Has anyone ever taken the fiberglass one out and replaced it with a glass one. Or is there a way that I could add glass to the existing hatch. Is it worth the time and effort?

There is a company that makes plastic replacements for the solid fiberglass versions.  I found this link showing in the photos a retrofit forward hatch.  I would start here and see what you find out.

Dan : You might want to rethink changing to a hatch with a lens!!

I say that because most of us that have a lens hatch have made a cover to go over and protect the lens!!  First - so that when sleeping at night you don't get "moon burnt"!!  The other reason is that the UV from the sun is trying to craze the acrylic and bleach the covering inside on the V-berth cushion!!  Also, you only have to worry about leaks from the lens to frame joint!!

You just might be better off with your solid hatch cover!??!
