I don't know of any recall on those chargers. There has been a bunch written on these chargers on this site. Just use the search engine. I knew mine wasn't working right because the batteries were getting hot and boiling the water out and the charger wasn't cutting back. It ruined both of my 4d's. I replaced them with two banks of golf cart 6V batteries two years ago. only added H2O once. Everything is good for now. If the charger acts up again, I'll replace it with a Truecharge 20 or 40.
