Bulkhead heat

Just did seatrial on 1991 Catalina 34. Engine ran cool 160, but after motoring for around 6 hours the bulkhead in the head next to the engine seamed rather hot. Is this normal in these boats.

Jim,
The engine does throw off some heat.  If the water jacket is 160 it will tend to heat the surroundings to 160.  After a few hours motoring you can feel the heat in the head and the aft cabin.

Can actually use this to your advantage--the bulkhead adjacent to the engine in the head makes a great wet locker due the the cant in the top section.  Simple hooks affixed to the bulkhead allow wet stuff to hang down over the floor pan.  If there's any engine heat, it accellerates the drying.  

The top hatch in the head does a good job of dissapating heat.
