Wondering if anyone has ever taken their anchor to get galvanized?

I'm thinking that my old iron CRQ might benefit from a hot dip in the metal plating process.

Would also look nicer once I install the new anchor roller.

Not mention its cheaper to than getting a new one.  Southern Galvanizing in Baltimore quoted around $175 to $225.

Has anyone else used a Galvanizer in the Maryland / NoVa region?

WTunnessen,

Not sure of a Galvanizer in this area, but............................

I have a genuine 35# CQR in excellent condition; it has the light beige patina.
If you are interested I can provide a few pictures.

$125.00

I am at the boat every weekend.

If interested send me a PM thought this site.

Guys : There was a place near Ashland Va (just north of Richmond) that did hot dipping Galvanizing.  I've lost the address/telephone number, sorry I can't be of more help.

I have a bit of rust on my CQR and I'm going to use a product called "Instant Galvanize" by CRC. It's in a spray can and is available at West Marine. I was referred to it by a pretty knowledgeable guy on my dock who used it on his. The can reads: Zinc-rich galvanized coating. Fights rust creepage. Matte gray color. Protects like "Hot Dip" galvanizing. 13 bucks. I should get mine done within a week or so, I'll post how it came out.

Mike : There is nothing that can "STICK" like hot dip galvanizing!!
I've used the spray can stuff and it'll last only ONE season on chain/anchor that just sits there and is not used!  So don't hold your breath on having a lasting job!!  My experience   :x
