Whew!  I saw the title and thought for a second it was your boat.  Looks like the the CFD and CPD did a great job.  Is that the harbor where you keep your boat?

Thanks Ted for the concern. It is the harbor (Montrose) where Bob Kuba and I sail from. We're on cans. I walked the dock today where the damaged boat still floats. No one knew the cause although the speculation of course is electrical. He did evidently have shore power connected. There was a burnt -small diameter non marine electrical cord laying in the cockpit but I don't know if this was causal or simply was a casualty of the fire.

It is lucky that it occurred when it did---lots of people around prior to sunset. As the harbor is adjacent to a park and actually part of the Chicago Park District, there is generally quite a bit of police presence. I'll post an update after the autopsy.
