This is the emergency tiller cap that came off my MK 1. Replaced with the same but new.

I must have got lucky. I was able to get mine off although after many applications of PB Blaster and three days of starting the engine to heat things up. Never thought about the HX. Probably would have been easier.   :?

Frequency of use should not be major factor. Just like the tools in your tool box, some aren't used often BUT when that special job comes along, it sure is nice to have that special tool to do the job properly and easier.

And the heating element could be the leaky culprit.

Hi Steve,
NFPA is the National Fire Protection Association and I don't know how they interact with the boating industry but I see they do have guidelines on propane.
Their phone number is 800-344-355
I would call them and explain your situation to them to see what is necessary for you to do.
I don't recall any conversations in our group but maybe someone else will chime in if they have knowledge on this.
Let us know so we will all know and good luck

Waterdog,
if it were me, I would want all those things but a new sailor may be overwhelmed with all the extras. I think the main thing is for the boat to look clean and uncluttered and I think Ken has a good idea about the buyer being able to see himself sailing and enjoying your boat. Good luck with your sale. I just wish I was in the market for a boat again.

Paul,
I would check with Mark or Guido at Garhauer. These guys are experts on Catalina boats and very nice to work with.
Their number is 909-985-9993
If you explain what you're trying to do, I'm sure they can help.

I put K50's on mine and was very happy and I think that Ron put a combination of K50's and K75's on his and has been happy with those too. I think either will work OK. Maybe Ron or Stu will have a good reason for one or the other but I think that the K-75's are just a little stiffer than the K-50's

Jon and Noah,
Alan is fantastic. He set up my navpod for me and did an excellent job. Please give him my regards.

Yes, that was me. You'll notice that it was in 1970 and I don't think selfie sticks were invented yet. Craig actually got it right, I was on the hanger elevator but I think I used a standard 50mm lens, not a telephoto. Thanks for noticing though. Now that I look at it though, I'm thinking that it was a 200mm telephoto.

I also had a solid Plexiglas insert for my companionway and I loved it. It was great to have light in the cabin when it was raining or cold and I used it as my full time hatch with a hasp on the top for a lock. Like Ken, we also had the sunbrella cover that we could even use at night at the dock for privacy without the Plexiglas in place then if you were going in and out of the cabin, you could just flip the cover out of the way. It worked out very well for us and we never used the wood hatch boards.
