Never swim around the marina.  Most marinas have a rule against swimming.  A couple years ago
a teenager was electrocuted in a city about 50 miles from here by swimming at the marina.

Bob:  you said that you have the batteries wired in series.
If that is not a misquote you are wired for 24volts and
not 12. This could cause the fuses to blow. The batteries
need to be wired in a series/parallel configuration to
Give you 12volts.

Main Message Board / US Boat Show

Who out there will be going to the Annapolis boat show this year?  Last year the wife and I went and
joined Fleet12 for dinner.  That was very nice and we met a lot of very nice people.  We are leaving
tomorrow afternoon to attend again this year.  Ron, are you Fleet 12 members meeting again?

Main Message Board / Re: Wrapping the mast
October 07, 2013, 06:53:40 PM
I would imagine that you would have to be careful not to wrap with something that built up the mast
to a point that it wouldn't pass thru the "hole" (whatever it's called.  Of course this wouldn't pertain
to a deck stepped mast.

Mike:  Don't know about the paint/varnish stripper but when we did my grab rails we took them
off the boat and had no problems getting them back on.  Much easier to varnish and no masking
necessary.

Lot's of good ideas there.  I also use a throwable seat cusion for a back rest but I'm always looking
for better ideas.

We had the same problem a year or two ago with our extrusion hanging up the swivel unit.  I thought the
extrusions were connected with rivets but I can't remember for sure.  Any way after finding out what the
problem/hangup was, it was fixed and no damage to the swivel.

I glued 2 pieces of plastic laminate (like Formica) back to back to replace the old broken black sliders.  I used
solid white but any color/pattern would work.  They've worked out quite well and have been in for 3 or 4 years
and no cracks, they're much tuffer than the original and brigten up the interior a lot also.

We store ours behind the port setee back cushions.  You don't really notice them.

Frederick:
If you go with new batteries, golf cart batteries are the way to go.  If you don't have room for the extra
good battery for a starter battery you can get by real good with a small auto battery for less money (when
buying new) and also lighter and take up less space.  We went with that set-up a few years ago and have
been extremely pleased.

To solve the "gasoline in the lazerette" problem Honda generators are available to run on LP gas.  That
way you could detach a 1lb. cannister and store the generator with no fuel and store the LP cannister in
a tube on the rail or elsewhere safely.

Greg:  Your thru hulls are probably bronze.  You do NOT want brass.

Steve:  No, the wires on the older C-34's are  not heavy enough.  For a 30 amp breaker the wiring should be a
minimum of 10ga.  I put in a new electrical panel with 15amp breakers on the outlet circuit.

Jeff:  I did the same thing as Scotty.  I added a bow cleat on the port side and one on the starboard side.  Much better for
dock lines.  I removed the original deck cleat to make room for the new anchor roller.
