Mine does the same thing Mark.  Also wonder, is the empty mark WAY at the bottom of the dip stick? Hard to. tell if the mark is the low limit or an I or a 1.

If you are talking about the halogen deck light and not the steaming light, you shouldn't need a Coast Guard approved
bulb.

Thanks for the article Jim. Very interesting report on the loss of the Bounty.  I had been very interested in the sinking of this ship and would not have known about this report if you hadn't put it on here on the c34 site for anyone interested to read. Thanks again.

I used their plastic model, not the all metal one.
The quality of the windows is pretty good I thought, especially when made in China as I didn't realize when I ordered them (I like
things "made in USA"}but I can overlook that. The only real problem I had is that they are not made for slanted "dog house" sides,
only plumb vertical or close to it.  The problem is that they collect water when it rains but we got used to that and use a drywall
tray when we open them after a rain.  Other than that they are far superior.  Wasn't too hard to install, had to make a few adjustments
to the teak trim under the windows and also I planed the thickness of the teak trim that came from NFM because they were a little
too thick.  All in all I'm happy with the outcome and a BIG improvement over the original factory installed units.

I replaced mine with New Found Metals ports. I think I still have some of the trim pieces from the old ports.
I will try to check out in my shop this weekend if I can wade out through the snow. If I still have any I
would be glad to mail you one. Send mean e-mail with your address.

Main Message Board / Battery Compartment Ventilation
December 22, 2013, 08:21:08 PM
Many places mention the importance of flooded battery compartments to be
well ventilated however on the C34 battery compartment there appears to
be no ventilation.  Have anyone here have had a problem with no ventilation
or has anyone added ventilation to this area?

I agree with Ron & Stu, I wouldn't replace the starter until I checked/re-did the cable connections.  I think it would
be unlikely that the strarter motor would slow down from a defect in the starter, more than likely it would be a
complete failure I think.

It seems like sending something via USPS across the Pacific is just as fast or faster than sending across a few
states here in the US.

I have only had the lexan hatch boards on for one summer and no scratches yet.  I have about 5/16" wood on each side so
the lexan is somewhat protected.  Lexan is much stronger and more durable and less prone to breaking than plexiglass.

I built two hatch boards with lexan and two hatchboards with screens to use in place of the solid teak hatchboards but I keep
the original hatch boards on board in case of severe weather when there's a chace of the cockpit becoming flooded.
The window and screen hatch boards match the original boards so they can be mixed or matched.  The wood frame around
is not large so they are lighter than the original boards.

We have the same problem here also but with Mallard ducks, not geese.  A real
big nusience but don't know a solution.  The harbor master or helpers must wash
every morning with a hose.
