Main Message Board / GFI Tripping
November 02, 2014, 01:24:46 PM
Boat is on the hard in the marina.  I wanted to plug into a regular 115V outlet.  I have a standard 15amp to 30amp adapter to fit the
boats ac "plug-in".  When I plug it in, and with all new cords in excellent condition the GFI trips.  Don't know why.  Anyone out there
that may shed some light on what's going on?  The boat's ac circuitry is in perfect condition and we used it all summer with no problems
when plugged in at the dock slips.
Thanks in advance, Larry

Main Message Board / Battery Compartment Ventilation
December 22, 2013, 08:21:08 PM
Many places mention the importance of flooded battery compartments to be
well ventilated however on the C34 battery compartment there appears to
be no ventilation.  Have anyone here have had a problem with no ventilation
or has anyone added ventilation to this area?

Main Message Board / US Boat Show
October 07, 2013, 06:57:42 PM
Who out there will be going to the Annapolis boat show this year?  Last year the wife and I went and
joined Fleet12 for dinner.  That was very nice and we met a lot of very nice people.  We are leaving
tomorrow afternoon to attend again this year.  Ron, are you Fleet 12 members meeting again?

Main Message Board / Annapolis Spring Show
March 31, 2013, 08:23:33 PM
How many of you east coast guys go to the Spring Sail Boat show in Annapolis?  How does it
compare to the Fall show?  Is it worth a 600 mile drive to see it?  It may be to me if the crabs
are in season.  When does the crab season start?

Main Message Board / Re-powering
November 23, 2012, 06:19:09 PM
To DGill:  I see that you are repowering your '87 for more power.  Can you tell us all here what you
will be repowering with?  I would be interested in your project and I wouldn't be surprised that
others on here would also be interested.

Main Message Board / HF Radios
October 27, 2012, 09:00:14 PM
I have been curious for some time now at how many of you out there have an HF radio installed on your
boat, whether it's a marine SSB or a amateur radio.  What model radio, what antenna setup do you use?

Main Message Board / Crack in muffler
July 10, 2009, 07:58:44 PM
Discovered a small crack in the muffler at the flange near the petcock.  Have read about others having same problem and how
they fixed it but was wondering if there is a temporary fix that can be done without disconnecting and removeing the muffler.
Very short sailing season here and don't really want to lose a week or two doing the repairs correctly.
The boat is a '87 model, hull number 475 with the square muffler.  Would 3-M 5200 caulk do a temporary repair?
Thanks for any and all ideas and comments.

Main Message Board / FM Stereo antenna
May 31, 2009, 05:22:13 PM
I have just installed a new stereo (there was none before) in Katarina and still need an antenna.  What do most of you do for
an AM/FM antenna??  Also what does Catalina do for an antenna with factory installed stereos  ??
Tried the search but couldn't find much specifically on antennas for stereo.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Just received 6 new ports that I ordered when at the Miami Boat Show.  They are from New Found Metals and are the
heavy looking plastic ones, TriMatrix ports I think they're called.  I'm impressed with the looks of them so far (haven't
installed them yet) even though they're made in China.  We still have ice on the Lake here so I'm jealous of you guys
that are (even though you are in northern US & Canada) able to start launching or looking at launching in a few weeks.
Anyone out there changed their opening ports??

Main Message Board / Cable TV Jack
October 27, 2008, 06:56:25 PM
I've been looking for something to connect the TV cable on the inside to one side of a bulkhead (the exterior wall) to the TV and
then able to connect the cable from the dock to the outside.  The only thing that I've found so far has a TV and Phone
connector together.  Anyone know of something with just TV and/or what does anyone else out there use??
Thanks, Larry

Today we had the last trip of the season.  Sailed from Charlevoix to Boyne City, MI.  Great sail, wind at 15kts. gusting to 20.
Averaged about 6.6kts all the way.  Temperature cool at 52 degrees.

Main Message Board / Mast/coach roof tiedown bolts
August 27, 2007, 05:53:13 PM
I cannot locate the two round head bolts that go into the mast to hold
the turn-buckle that prevents uplift to the cabin top.  Can anyone tell
me the diameter and thread size of those bolts.  The boat is presently
on an island out in Lake Michigan and I would like to take the bolts out
with me when I return this coming Thursday.
Thanks in advance.

Main Message Board / Battery catastrophe
May 10, 2007, 06:52:21 PM
:cry4`  Well I finally spent my old group 27's so I bought 4 new golf cart batteries at Sam's club.  One accidently tipped over
spilling all the acid out.  Can I add acid from the car parts store, or is it not going to match the  others now and I should buy
another one??  Need input, thanks in advance.

Main Message Board / Replacing water heater
May 03, 2006, 06:46:52 PM
My existing water heater is round and has totally fallen apart so I need to replace it.  I
have noticed that most of the water tanks are now square vs. round (except Raritan which
is more than double the price) and wonder if anyone has changed their round one for a
square one in a Mark I, 1987?  I measured the space and it seems like it almost will not fit
in.  By the way, it's under the sink.  Would appreciate it if anyone can help me with this
question.  I've looked at most of the water heater discussions but couldn't find a definate
answer to this question.  Waiting for a response, thanks in advance.

Main Message Board / stripped lag bolts
June 12, 2005, 04:20:07 PM
Some of the lag bolts that hold the motor mounts to the engine bed
are stripped.  Has anyone dealt with this?  What is the fix?  Any
suggestions and help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Main Message Board / companionway squeal
April 16, 2005, 10:26:32 AM
My sliding companionway hatch has a terrible squeal when slid open.
Has anyone fixed this problem?  How hard is it to remove the hatch to
get at the slide to fix it?  I did a search but couldn't find it.

Thanks

Main Message Board / mast rigging
June 12, 2004, 11:16:08 AM
My mast is un-stepped and this is the first time
I've been able to really see it (just got the
boat last summer).  I want to rig all the halyards, etc. before it goes back up as some
are missing.  I noticed there are a lot of blocks, etc. that are not shown in my manual and
I don't know what they're all for.  Any help anyone can give will be more than appreciated.  I did check the two search's with no luck. Thanks in advance.
