The old owner of our boat put a 2 blade 15x9 propeller on our boat, and it is drastically underpowered.
If anyone has a 15x9 Sailer Prop (3-Blade) that they want to sell, let us know!  They aren't horribly priced, but would like to save some $$ if possible.

Feel free to e-mail at mtmaksim@mtu.edu, or call/text  231-225-5060.  Anything reasonable would be considered.

When we bought our boat, it came with a CNG RV-type stove (burners only) that does not gimbal.  Due to such a pain in the...ahem....to get CNG, my wife and I have decided to convert to propane.  We want to put a propane stove/oven that gimbal in the boat, as well as the proper locker/ventilation.

If anyone has functioning marine stove/oven combo for a C34, and/or a propane locker, we are looking to buy, and would rather not deal with the pricetag of new!

Feel free to e-mail at mtmaksim@mtu.edu, or call/text  231-225-5060.  I dont' check the forums that often (don't gasp Stu!) .

Anything reasonable would be considered.

Lake Michigan / Lake Michigan C 34's
September 13, 2017, 01:31:49 PM
It'd be nice to know who else is out there with a C 34 in Lake Michigan - especially the Muskegon/Whitehall area.  From our slip, including our boat, there are 5 C34's all visible from the cockpit.  It's pretty cool.  Would like to get to know some other C34 owners, etc.  It might be fund to do a mini-rendevouz, if there are enough boats and interest!

I used the "Velcro" version of the Command strips, and they worked beautifully!

Use 8 strips per trim piece - two front-to-front to stick hook and loops, on each edge.

...in true Catalina fashion, I think they would use whatever they had available!
I went off the approach that an 89 should have 3" vents, and purchased the new 3" dorades to replace on the boat this spring. When I went to install them, it turns out they had 4" vents originally!

Ron:

I just dug through all the old Tech Notes, looking for the post about the decal in the track.  I've found this tape, but can't find the deciphering "code" in the tech notes.

When you have a minute - would you know what year it was?

Thanks!

Guys : In a past Mainsheet article, I told owners to look at the tape written decal that's on the inside track of your keel stepped mast.  It gives the hull number and lets you know if it's a "Standard" or a "Tall rigged mast!  Not to sure where it is on the deck stepped masts, but I'm sure it's there.

Good information in those old Mainsheet tech notes, but you have to read them.    A thought

Main Message Board / Head Dimensions
August 30, 2016, 12:11:22 PM
Just curious if anyone on the forum has a drawing showing the floor of the head, or a company that has the dimensions already for teak grate.

We are looking to put a teak grate in our 1989 34, and every company is giving me run-around.  They want CAD-type drawings for their grate, not a cut-out template.

Anyone have this drawing, or a suggested dealer that would take my cut-out template?  Or maybe someone who already has the pattern done?

Thanks!

Fantastic resource. Thanks Stu!

We have 2 Group 27 batteries under the aft section of the settee (in front of the galley sink) as well as a group 24 battery for starting, all crammed in the space.  The three needed some coaxing to fit - but they all fit in there.

Luckily, the wiring is pretty easy to run!

It is just the internal flange/cover and screw that are missing.  I would rather not have to put in 2 new vents if I can source the parts somewhere....

Thanks for your suggestions so far though!

Main Message Board / Nicro Dorade (1989) Parts
June 07, 2016, 11:19:13 AM
Hello everyone.  This is my first post to the forum.   My wife & I purchased a 1989 (Sail #880) Catalina 34 last fall.  This spring/summer, we are working on getting some of the "kinks" out of the boat.  We have two Nicro dorade vents, and I read the articles/wiki/mainsheet articles about replacing the vents with new vents and dorade boxes.

Looking at our vents, the only thing that we are having issues with is the internal mechanism.  The screw and "mushroom cap" that keeps the water out are missing - which means that currently, we can see daylight through our dorades - not good!

I was wondering if anyone that replaced their Nicro dorades with something new had the old parts laying around?  I'm interested in purchasing them - Catalina, CatalinaDirect, nor anyone else has replacement parts any longer.

Thank you!
