Noah- Did that door behind your toilet come with hinges?  I just purchased 2 of the 12" from SeaTeak, and no hinges or latches.  Wondering if I now need to router this frame and door to get hinges and catches on it.

I love my AIS receive overlay on the plotter, especially the trigonometry it does with CPA and such. I upgraded to transmit with the lesser vesper (no-wifi as I have a hub already) for a 2 yr cruise. The transmit is a nice piece of mind, I got hailed by some big ships in close quarters, and its great for buddy boating.  I was waiting forever for the integrated VHF one, seems like its still not out.  It has the built in coax splitter and everything.  Unless you are going on a big trip, I'd get the receiver and wait on the transceiver.  My old Standard Horizon GX2000 overlays the AIS fine on my chart plotter (good backup I guess, as currently the vesper is doing the overlay).

This is the one that I wanted, saw it at the boat show in Annapolis in 2017:

That actually looks pretty similar to my thru-bolted bronze Edson arm (which was about $400).  I ended up installing my shelf/mount aft of the fuel tank and the tiller facing the port quarter/stern.  My RAM arm (Raymarine type 1 linear drive) was too long to fit perfectly athwartships.  The pilot motor doesn't care what orientation it is to the rudder post, so long as you are square 90 degrees at mid throw and +/- a degree or 2 vertically. Noah was a big help, and I still have lots of pics of the install and shelf build, feel free to PM me.

I wanted to post an update here incase anyone was looking for engine mount solutions on this thread in the future.  I ended up not replacing them.  I spent a few more hours on the alignment, and had a helper (my wonderful wife) in the aft cabin upside down with the feelers while I adjusted the mounts with big wrenches and sockets from the front and the 2 side access doors.  Did a few test runs to the mouth of the harbor and back and re-adjustments.  Everything is very smooth and quite now, even with all my sound insulation ripped out (Soundown Yachtmaster Jr pack just arrived from Defender). Note- I had just installed a new stainless shaft, and I did a lot of banging around, cutting metal and cursing to get the old bronze shaft out, and had my rudder out and a lot of stuff going on back there.  I have decided to not purchase new mounts, but I appreciate everyone's input and if anyone ends up on this thread in the future, there is good advice about the mounts to get.

I am interested, my father could come pick them up with his pickup, he lives in East Moriches and loves to get out of the house.   I will be driving up for the holidays (3 day quarantine now) and will bring them back.  I have 1986 MKI.  Let me know, or pm me and I'll give you my phone. thanks!

Thank you all for the helpful info.  I'll report back once I get it done, but that may not be for a couple months.

I am going to do the rig soon, I have recently relocated to New Orleans so I'll be using a rigger I have never dealt with (tbd). There are lots of boats and even a Quantum loft here, so I am not worried about quality.  I am however wondering if anyone has a ballpark figure for a full standing rig replacement (parts+labor).  1986 keel stepped tall rig.  I haven't decided about the furler yet.  I still have the hood continuous and darn it I love that thick line.  But I guess it would make sense to get a new one.  So I guess what I'm looking for is cost of rig replacement for everything besides forestay and furler as that can vary a lot and the forestay is usually done with the furler.

Achilles HB-315LX with Yamaha 15 on Garhauer 1.25"  diameter extra tall davits.  Love it.  I sail with the engine still on the dink.

I have a couple thousand cruising miles on my National Sails (Rolly) From Dirk.  Very happy with them.  Dutchman is great and I feel the fit and finish is extremely good for the price.

The Kits at defender are 32" x54" as of today.  Noah- How much more than one kit did you need to "obsessively" do the job? (provided the kit was the same size).  If it was only 1.25 kits I may opt to order a single kit for now.  For example, I do not have sound proofing on the access doors as of now and its not so bothersome.  My current foam is breaking down and causing a mess.

Also- To reply to Randy: We left NY in 2017, sailed the East coast to the bahamas, spent 3 months there, then back to east coast, and then Bahamas again for 2018-2019 winter.  We then sailed south around the Keys and Dry Tortugas, across the Gulf and are now docked at the new Municipal dock in from the the NOYC on Lake Ponchatrain.

My boat recently developed a similar frame crack in the galley, on the edge inside the plexi.  I need to replace the plexi eventually, does anyone have the best current recommendation for material to use?  I am in New Orleans.  Also, can you explain a little more about what the 'Gel' mentioned earlier in the post is for?

I worked with the Lewmar people in Guilford, CT when I needed the vintage collets.  They were pretty helpful in finding some for me in stock at a place in Florida.

Thanks for the advice, I will check that company out.  The air conditioning is installed under the vee berth with all the plumbing and electrical, however I still need to do the ducts and vents.  I hope to complete that this week and will report back on the results.
