hi, my boat was peeing yesterday and is not today.  i wanted to try to fix it myself but i can't figure out how to get the plastic cover off what i believe to be the river water intake with metal mesh filter.  i tried, with my hand so i don't break anything, twisting it left and right and straight off.  nothing.  it's plastic so i don't want to use channel locks on it.  what is the secret procedure so i can then see if my river water engine coolant intake is clogged and fix her peeing issue myself?  and i assume the pee, coming out of the engine, which i so dutifully look for each time i start up the engine, is river (or not coolant) water, correct? i could not find a drawing in the owner's manual for how all the hoses run, for coolant and river water.  is it there that i missed or can someone send it?

there is a cleat on mine as well.  i think i just over tightened it when i put it on and forgot.  when i get back to the boat, i'll work with it. 

yeah, Ken, i do need to spend more time on the boat.  with working and the divorce, i haven't had much but i'm trying to find people to come with me,now, since i couldn't before because people were afraid of my ex.

what i don't get is none of the hardware has changed.  i must have messed up the rigging since i only get my boat out a few times a year and guess i forgot something.  thanks

Nicholla, thanks but it wouldn't reach the backstay but i should be able to let it go and just pull it tight to the front of the boom, i think

Jon, where would the boom lift go, if it wasn't on, when the main was up? that makes sense,i just don't remember where it goes

yeah, that was the first thing and they were all sticking out so we got "the pokey stick", dropped the main, and made them all flush.  not to sound stupid but should the boom lift, at the back of the boom, be on, when the main is up?  i can't remember, and i get my boat out like once or twice a year, the past few years.  if i could drop it, that would solve the issue but i don't know where it would go, if i did drop it.  the outhaul is, for me, this old grey line, coming out of the top of the boom and then running through the boom, to the front.  the boom lift is a different line.  I think having a boat and rarely getting it out is bad idea.

i have hull 99, 1986 and it should be the original rigging set up but something went wrong, in the past year, and i don't know what.  My boom lift is in the way of the main, when it's up.  I don't take the boom off, for winter but somewhere, the rigging is wrong.  it's the same main, and same rigging, for the past 5 years.  The wire of the boom lift is completely in the way of the main, even when fully loosened but on and i don't want it shredded my main sail.  I have pictures and I'm really really frustrated.  I looked in the manual but it's unclear what is wrong.  does anyone else have a 1986 who can help me with what happened to my rigging?

Stu, i bought a spring loaded block and I'll put it on the pulpit like you have when i comes.

can i send you a picture of my traveler?  Ken K thought you had the same Nico Fico to see what the scoop is with the my screws sticking out, 3 on each side?  thanks

yeah i don't have that top block.  that's what i think i need but that looks a lot less expensive than a $100 spring block.  did you put that on yourself?  and thanks

I don't have anything spinnaker except a halyard.  no pole, no sail. 

I do race, just not my own boat because I don't have all the hardware.  thanks
