Steve  all battery's are good if you treat them right. I bought 3 deep cycle batteries at walmart close to my boat in a hurry. They are called everlast my friends call them never last. The battery's are 6+ years old and never let me down.I just checked them from the winter 12.6v on all 3. I leave them on the boat all winter with no charge. I do unhook the  + lead  and leave them fully charged in the fall. I also filled them with distilled water ever  spring.  I also mounted a battery near the engine just for starting it was a closeout from sams. Charlie

Put the amp meter back in your problems will go away. Volt meters and amp meters are two differant  types of meters you cannot inter change them. Your  new volt meter is  problay toast. Charlie

I had the same problem and it was the bearings in the autohelm. I was able to buy parts and a spare belt an rebuild it. Took care of my problem. There are small rollers that the autohelm belt rides on they get worn. Maybe the belt has stretched. Charlie

Main Message Board / roller furler failure

Had a problem with furling jib would not come out. I have a 1986 pro furl. Got back to  the dock furler would not turn.  Took the jib off every thing check out OK.  Put the jib back on every thing is OK now. I think maybe the halyard shackle got caught on the furling foil. Has any one had a problem with the furler. Charlie

Lance I  mounted mine under the vee berth. And used the useless drawer hole as a cold air return. Ran 6 in duct into the forward hanging locker and tee off. One went up to the vee berth one went on to the main saloon.  I only have 12K in Ohio works good at night. Just OK in the daytime. If you go to 16K you will problay have to put on an extra shore power cord.  Charlie

Jack in reverse is a direct lock up in the transmission.  no clutch  pads. The PO of my boat had to back it all the way home when the clutch pads went out. Charlie

Steve I have a dedecated starting battery mounted in the copit locker with a red battery switch mounted under the sink in the head. I can start off the house bank or the starting batt. When the engine runs I am charging the starting or house bank. I have 3 deep cycle batt in the house bank and 1 cranking batt for starting the engine. with the short distance from the batt to the engine lots of cranking power. With the  universal engine you need lots of batt for glow plugs. Charlie
