FYI... I did get the swivel out of the flush position. Removed the three overhead mounting screws, dropped the fixture. Carefully line up the little square tab on the swivel portion with the appropriate track on the housing and push gently but firmly, presto. MR 16 Bulb is pried out with very small screwdiver, carefully and relpaced with a LED Mr 16.

Not sure it's the same thing, but....
On #1472, 2000 C34 MkII, got an intermittent engine alarm. Tried everything. Nothing worked to shut it up. Finally got a smart mechanic who figured out the alarm wires are are routed from the rear of the engine up and around the block to the senders. These wires, heat and oil alarms, don't have a lot of insulation from the factory and the heat alarm had chafed through and was grounding out, intermittently. We used some spiral insulating material from the top down and it seems to have cured the problem.
Called Westerbeke and asked about replacement wires...According to W, it needs a whole new harness. I asked about a 2nd class fix... W suggested just splicing the wires.
Hope it helps.

Called a supplier of the lights in Florida. FYI, he says to remove the fixture and push the swivel out (carefully) from the rear. The bulb is pried out with a little screwdriver. I'll let you know if it works. Thx all.

Bought 2 MR16 replacement bulbs for the 2 overhead lights in the v berth. (SWMBO - She who must be obeyed - reads up there and leaves the lights on far into the night)

Now, how does one get the original bulb out of this fixture? Also, the same fixtures in the main and rear cabin extend below the liner and swivel. The 2 in the f'wd area seem to have been pushed up level with the liner. Is there a way to get these back out so they swivel.

Thx All.

Main Message Board / M35B, Bleeding the engine
March 24, 2009, 05:41:03 AM
Confused. Universal Manual says under normal circumstances bleeing is unessary. There is no bleed screw on the lift pump. Other local owners claim that just energizing the liift pump and then cranking the engine will atomatically bleed it. Any 1st hand info on changing the filters and starting the M35B engine is greatly appreciated.

Thx.

Main Message Board / Dinghy on Deck

Trying to decide on a dinghy. There's the Mercury 8'10" and the Mercury 9'4". Anyone have any experience stowing either one of these inflated and bottom up on the foredeck of a 34 Mk II ? Any thoughts appreciated. Thx.

How does the base of the above attach to the deck or the hull? I see the coupling that attaches the davit to the pulpit rail, but cannot determine how or if the base of the davit is connected at it's base.
Thx

Thanks for the info on the water heater. I am not looking at the heat exchanger hoses. I am looking at the clear hoses. Still can't get to the cold water intake fitting on the heater. No Room. You ever move the heater? Where is it bolted in the rear, under the sink?  BTW, that black ck valve is on my cold water line, not the hot. It's a plastic Shur Flo, etc. I always assumed it was there to keep any bad stuff in the heater from back flowing and contaminating the whole tank, i.e. the heat exchanger leaking and engine antifreeze in the heater. The black thing would keep that out of the water supply. Should it be on the HOT?

Used to own a Tanzer 26 and I remember seeing emails from Nepean Sailing Club. That you? If so say hello to the Tanzerites.

Thx/Rgds

Trying to connect the bypass on the Hot Water Heater. Cannot reach the cold water inlet plumbing. No room for a wrench and it's inches from the bulkhead and pointed down. Impossible even for midget hands. Anyone ever move the Hot Water Heater to re-do the plumbing fittings on the rear of the heater? If so please advise how. Have been advised by local "know it alls" just to put the by pass on the hoses going and out of the heater. Makes it an easy job, but still will have some residual water in the hose for the winter. Any help gladly appreciated, Thx.
