The engine is running at 160 degrees and I have had that Oberdorfer for long enough to know that it does an adequate job. the day was cooler than usual and very humid but what worried me is that I motored out and back down the channel and when I tied up to the mooring, was still getting the white "steam". and water was coming out of the boat as per usual.

i did replace the strainer with a Vetus, as someone did on this page.

engine running fine at 160 or so says the temp gauge. water coming into raw water filter and out to engine again, impeller pump working, water coming out of outlet in back of boat...so why white smoke? Thanks for any suggestions or thoughts.

I checked into Jon's idea of the Vetus 2 but Vetus does not make such a model. could it be the 140? does anyone know the input in L/min and internal hose size? Thanks

i had that until i removed the hatch and re-bed the hatch. now, no problem with brown water

The Chesapeake is a messy place. Often I have to remove the engine intake line, unscrew the filter and run a flexible metal wire down and out the boat...then put it all together. I was thinking about putting a Y piece below the filter so that I could access the intake for cleaning without having to remove the filter piece....
Anyone try that?

1. fuel tank. 35 years old, 1990 boat. some pitting. Is there a time to replace?
2. water tanks. hard to inspect the stern one. they are apparently plastic. Same questions. Time to replace?

After 34 years it's time to replace the molded hose that comes out of front of engine for closed cooling system and the hose that runs back to the heat exchanger. Where to obtain and size? Thanks

Dumbest mishap ever. Put 23 gallons of diesel into empty stern water tank in error before catching it. Let it run into bilge, pumped it into buckets and properly disposed of it. Cleaned up as well. What is best way to assure that the water tank is clean. The very helpful fellow at the dock said vodka!

i can vent the propane out the stern. Does this mean that the stove and oven has to be entirely replaced because of the burners?
