Main Message Board / Re: Ye old windless question
« on: May 12, 2019, 09:29:34 AM »
in looking around at all the possibilities the one that looks like the least modifications are necessary is that of Tony Plunkett where the head of the unit exits the offset in the anchor locker at right angle (90 Degrees) and then the motor is tucked at 90 degrees to that (headed in down direction) to the right of the offset behind the v berth panal. I have not seen anyone else who has done it that way and I don't know what unit can be configured that way. Any suggestions or thoughts about that installation or what seller might be good to call ? I cannot find Tony Plunkett on our list either

« on: May 10, 2019, 01:56:22 PM »
I have done some investigating including the one done on a Catalina 1990 boat just a few hull numbers from mine. I have the same locker set up etc.
I have a new 35lb Manson anchor and older rubber covered chain (about 3 feet) attached to 3/4 inch line. In any event, I am looking for a good and reliable windless model. any suggestions. I like the Lewmar stuff but the one used in the tech post is not made anymore. Thanks very much

Given the other projects I need to do this year, new rigging, bottom sanding, windless and radar pole....maybe I will just wait and see
Not to mention sailing the boat from Long Island to Chesapeake...
Thanks

I noticed when I went to check out the boat that I failed to drain the hot water heater this year. So I promptly drained it!!  Any chance it survived?

Where does the swivel plate get mounted on the boat?
Any pictures that anyone has?

anyone replace our old Airmar paddle wheel sensors with new ultrasonic ones? what happens when they get dirty? Same issues? Will they work with older Raymarine products?

I have inquired before but now its decision time
I have decided on Green Point Marine, Worton Creek
but friends say that Balto is closer to Pa or that Rock Hall is closer to open water
Is anyone at or near Greenpoint and what can you tell me about the location and their work?

very impressive work
I wan to install a windless in my boat and I am somewhat intimidated by what I have read
Seems like there are a few different approaches.
