I am selling my 87 Catalina 34 after enjoyed the sails on SF Bay for more than 15 years. Our family just added a new infant, there's basically no time to sail/maintain it anymore. Details of the boat can be seen here

My old autohelm 4000 control unit failed this weekend, it wont powerup anymore. I checked the cable and connector, the power supply works fine. I guess the unit is dead.

Does anyone know how to get it replaced or repaired? I saw some infor about a retrofit kit to use st4000+ control unit? Is that true? If so, is anyone still carry it? I know Raymarine discontinued it.

Main Message Board / In mast furling main?
April 01, 2006, 02:31:53 PM

Does anyone have the in mast furler on their C34? Or have you sailed one with it?

How much performance do you have to sacrafice because of lost of sail area?

And more importantly, does the extra weight on the mast cause any balance problem? How about the balance of sail? Can you still adjust the balance of sail since you cannot bend the mast anymore. What about the weather healm? Or lee healm?

I'm looking for a used C34 now and just wonder if the in mast furler will ruin all the good things we know about this nice vessel.

Main Message Board / water in bilge normal?
August 01, 2005, 01:41:04 PM
Hi I'm new to C34, I'm currently looking to purchase one.

I've looked at one boat, there's water in the bilge which the owner said it's normal from engine condensed water, like exhuast water?

I'm not sure this is true since I only have experience with outboard engine. If there is water generated by engine, wouldn't it goes with the exhaust and discharged out of the boat instead of dripping into the bilge?
