Main Message Board / Shower Drain Pump Removal
June 02, 2022, 10:43:35 AM
My 1990 MK 1 has a PAR 37202 pump for the shower drain. It has stopped working, motor still runs but no suction. It is located under the head sink and the only access is thru the door by the thru hull for the toilet, sink drain, and raw water inlet.
Access is very limited. I am wondering if anyone had removed this pump, and have an suggestions on how to do it. I have thought of removing the small holder for the t-paper and am wondering if that provides any better access.

Main Message Board / Wooden Sole Refinishing
October 11, 2021, 04:13:51 PM
Looked at past posts and did not find many discussions on various materials to use to finish the floor boards. I've used varnish in the past and was not happy with the results. I am thinking of using home wooden floor polyurethane. Has anyone tried this at what were their results?

Main Message Board / Hose to Bilge Pump Connection
September 02, 2020, 05:05:49 PM
On my MK1 I have a connector which connects  the hose to the bilge exit, a approx 1.25 in. "wound" surface hose to a 1 inch smooth outlet on the bilge pump. Nobody seems to make this connector any more. All the new bilge hose has a smooth section every foot or so. I am wonder if others have had to replace this connector and what did they use.
Thanks Steve

Main Message Board / Floor Replacement
December 01, 2017, 01:17:38 PM
The floor in my C34 (1990) is starting to delaminate, so I am looking to replace it. (the teak and holly plywood) I know I can buy some new plywood and use that, but I am wondering if any of the synthetic materials might be a better choice. Has anyone used this material and if so what are your thoughts/experiences.

Main Message Board / Microwave Replacement
April 25, 2016, 06:00:03 AM
I have a 1990 C34, Aquila, with a Panasonic microwave mounted over the refridgerator door. The specs show the outside dimensions as 9.5'Hx18"Wx13.25"D. It is not operating properly and I may have to replace it. I have seen lots of discussions about not being able to find a replacement which will fit. I found a LG unit, model LCS0712ST, with the outside dimensions of 10.13"Hx17.9"Wx12.25"D. The critical dimensions seems to be the .63"H difference. Has anyone tried to use this unit and can it be made to fit?

Main Message Board / Fridge Upgrade
November 15, 2015, 05:39:31 AM
I have a 1990 C34 (#1047). After 25 years, I am thinking of replacing the A-B fridge. Every year it seems to get less and less cold. I am wondering if people who have done this update have basically gone with a new S-B unit or found a better replacement. Any input would be appreciated.

Main Message Board / Under Counter Light by Refridge - Mk1
September 04, 2013, 05:39:40 AM
The First Mate managed to break the lamp housing when removing a container (or beer can) from the fridge. Don't seem to be able to find the lamp assembly on the Internet, so it's time for a new design. Wonder what others may have used to replace this lamp?

I am going to replace the hose fron the head to the holding tank this spring, on my 1990 C34. Any hints from those who have done it. I do plan to use the "best" odor resistant hose.

Main Message Board / Manual Bilge Pump
April 17, 2010, 05:14:23 AM
The "Gusher" bilge pump, located near the control panel, has stopped working. It won't prime, so I think it is time for a rebuild. (20 years old). It appears the best way to remove is through the rear cabin with the bulkhead removed. Has anyone done this and do you have any hints?

Main Message Board / Remove Compass for Winter Storage?
October 20, 2009, 02:48:19 PM
I wonder what the thinking is about removing the Ritchie compass from the boat for winter storage. I keep the boat in the Detroit area, with temps below 0 F in the winter. Last year I installed a rebuilt compass and left in on the boat. In the spring I had a ~3 inch bubble in the compass. Time to have it reworked again.

Main Message Board / Mast Paint
January 24, 2009, 08:22:06 AM
I have the mast down for the first time in several years, and noticed some of the white finish coming off on the spreaders. The mast had the factory white finish. Can someone recommend a good product to touch up the sections with the peeling paint?

October 05, 2008, 06:24:40 AM
Can anyone provide some guidance on the design of the lifting bridle to pull a keel stepped mast. I am pulling mine for the first time and would like to know attachment points and where the lifting position should be.

Does anyone have any experience trying to take the NEMA output from RayMarine instruments and interfacing it to old KVH displays?

Main Message Board / Hatch Repair - Select Plastics
October 14, 2006, 05:22:25 AM
The front hatch on my 1990, Aquila, is badly crazed. I am thinking of having the plastic replaced by Select Plastic in Conn. Has anyone done business with them, and if yes how was the experience and results?

Main Message Board / Fuel Tank Build-Up
October 24, 2004, 05:27:05 AM
Thought I would pass along the following.

My boat Aquila will be 15 years old next spring. Having just pulled it for the winter, I decided to pull the fuel tank and have it cleaned. As far as I know, the boat has alway had a biocide, Bio Bore ??, used when fuel has been added. Much to my surprise there is almost no "sludge" in the tank. Only a very small amount left in the fuel on the bottom, but in solution so I think the filters would handle it easily without plugging up.

It appears that if you get good fuel and use a biocide you have little chance of a major build up of contamination in the tank.
